XGA 2 – GRAPHIC INVERTER

XGA 2 – GRAPHIC INVERTER displaying analog pictures on LCDs

Graphic inverter board to display the analog VGA-, SVGA-, XGA- and SXGA pictures on a TFT- or a PLASMA-LCD.

DESCRIPTION
The analog graphic signal is connected to the standard D-Sub HD plug (15- pin) containing separate H-sync and V-sync-signals; (an extra version uses the Sync-on-green signal). The intelligent scaler-chip performs the automatic up-scaling. The pixel clock will be re-extracted from the sync-pulses by means of a PLL thus allowing to change the classic CRT monitor for a flatpanel equipped with a XGA 2 board.

SETTINGS
5 pushbuttons on the PCB allow the parameter settings (picture position, phase), alternatively an external keyboard (option) or a serial interface may be used. The board provides an automatic mode but from experience there should be a manual phase setting after the automatic adjustment in order to get an optimal picture. An on-screen-menue on the display will guide the operator.

FORMATS
Conversion of the analog signal to an 8-Bit digital signal for each color will result in a maximum resolution of 16 Mill. colors. Displays with a resolution of 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768 or 1280×1024 Pixel may be connected. The configuration to the respective display is to be made by jumpers. TTLand LVDS-displays are each plugged to a separate connector on the board. A display-specific cable (standard lenght 30 cm) provides connection between XGA 2 board and display input. To select the proper cable the display type and its producer have to be specified when ordering. To obtain the best quality of pictures the resolution of the graphic output signal of the PC should be equivalent to the display. The scaling will always cause some small fuzziness.(Please see parameter „sharpness“ in the technical manual).

VOLTAGES
Power input voltage: 9 – 36 VDC. Power output for B/L-inverter: 5- or 12VDC, max 1A. If a regulated 12V output is essential for the inverter, the voltage input of the board should be 14VDC minimum !
